Rain Not Ruining This Wedding!

Amazing what the right attitude can make when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate fully with your wedding day weather.  Hats off to Caroline & John who were married Saturday, September 21st, at Keswick Vineyards.  Caroline & John did all the right things to guarantee good weather for their wedding day.  They did the old Southern tradition of burying a bottle of Jack Daniels, upside down, exactly a month before your wedding day for good luck.  They even took it a step further and went to Kentucky to get their bottle of Jack Daniels and had it engraved!  What could go wrong????  Well, their wedding day came and obviously Mother Nature was an issue for us.  Everyone watched closing on dozens of radar projections trying to figure out what would be happening at 4:00.  Radar was showing that the rain was going to change to a drizzle around that time so Caroline made the decision that she was determined to have her ceremony outside, even if it was raining.  So, with that, everyone got to work in setting up the ceremony and having umbrellas for everyone.  Caroline looked amazing in her wedding dress.  She was just beaming with joy the entire day.  You could feel the excitement between John and Caroline when John first saw her coming down the aisle.  The ceremony was just beautiful with the fog in the background covering the mountains.  After the ceremony guests enjoyed themselves under the Sperry tent for cocktail hour and the reception.  No one seemed to be bothered by the weather.  What amazed me the most at the end of the evening was the attitude Caroline had.  Her and John were such good sports when it came to taking photo's.  They even went out that evening in the rain to have a photo taken highlighting the rain drops.  At the end of the evening Caroline said, "If it wasn't for the rain, I would of never gotten these amazing photo's".  What a great way to look at the positive side of having it rain on your wedding day.  If only there were more brides like Caroline!  Special thanks to the following vendors:  Event Planner Barb Wired, Photographer Seth Roberts, Videographer Chris Harris, Hair & Make-up by Jeanne Cusick, Hedge Florist, Paradox Pastry, Officiant Mr. Winn, DJ Dennis Payne, Catering by The Local, Musicians for ceremony Madison Trio and Albemarle Limousine.  Click here to see some photos from Seth Roberts.  Click here to view the wedding video by Chris Harris.

Dual Wedding Ceremonies: Indian & American

Keswick Vineyards got double the pleasure when Ash & Nathan got married on Sunday, September 15th.  The day started with a traditional Maharashtrian Wedding Ceremony. Nathan arrived on horseback to the wedding location.  He was escorted by his family and friends who announced his presence with dancing and music.  Ash & Nathan were then separated by a curtain that was held by their parents until lowered so Nathan could see Ash for the first time.  They then had their shawls tied together.  Seven piles of rice were placed on the Mandap and every time they completed a circle, Ash would brush a pile off.  They did that for 7 circles with each circle making a solemn vow to each other.  It was then that Nathan gave Ash a necklace made of black beads and gold, which is the traditional Hindu jewelry worn by married woman.  Final prayers were said to complete that ceremony.  Guest then enjoy a cocktail hour while Ash & Nathan & the rest of the wedding party changed outfits to prepare for the American ceremony.  Ash & Nathan chose to hold their American ceremony near the front fountain of Edgewood Estate.  Ash was just as stunning in this wedding gown as she was earlier in the day.  What a gorgeous couple these two are!  After this ceremony guests enjoyed one more cocktail hour and then proceeded to the Sperry Tent for the reception.  C&O did the catering and the food was delicious and beautiful in presentation with a plated dinner for all.  Love the elephants that were on top of the wedding cake.  And what else could of topped off this wedding but a colorful sky at sunset.  What an amazing day filled with such beauty.  Special thanks for the following vendors for doing such an amazing job:  C&O Catering, Event Planner Cody from Amore Events, Photographer Katya from Story Motion, Videographer Jillian Video, DJ Mark Allen, Verde Natural Florals, Favorite Cakes, B2B Limousines and Albemarle Limousines, Hair & Make-up by Madison Hornsby of Moxie Hair & Body Lounge, Maharaj Sanjay Mahajan, Officiant Amy Kaminski and rentals by MS Events.

Congratulations to Anna & Massie!

Anna & Massie were married at Keswick Vineyards on Friday, September 13th.  Once again, the weather was picture perfect for their outdoor wedding ceremony & reception.  Anna & Massie chose to have their ceremony on the East Lawn area of Edgewood Estate under the magnificent 300+ year old oak tree.  They tied a big wreath around the trunk of the tree to be the backdrop for their ceremony.  Love how Anna & Massie really took the time during their ceremony to look at each person that was in attendance.  They really were taking in their day.  Thank you to the following vendors for providing such exceptional service:  Caterer Barbecue Exchange, Event Planner Barb Wired, DJ Mark Allen, Photographer Aaron Watson, Charlottesville Cupcake, Officiant Ellen Sazekas, Ambassador Limo, rentals by MS Events, Guitarist Miles Pearce, Blue Ridge Floral and Hair & Make-up by Anne Kibler.  Click here to view photographer Aaron Watson's Part I of his blog of this wedding or click here for Part II.  Click here to see make-up artist Anne Kibler's blog.

Going With The Flow

On Saturday, August 31st, Jennifer & Grant were married at Keswick Vineyards in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Mother Nature has been giving this area a lot of rain this summer and she ran a little interference in the time line for this wedding. We all kept a close eye on the radar and it was unfortunately showing us that the ceremony time we would be hit with a thunderstorm.  After speaking to Jennifer, she decided she would wait out the storm so she could still have her dream outdoor wedding amongst the vineyard.  So, that is what we did.  After an hour delay, the skies cleared and we were back on tract to having a beautiful outdoor ceremony!  The positive to that storm was it cooled everything down and gave us a beautiful sky for a back drop.  Just want to share my favorite part of this wedding.  They had a custom wine box made that was engraved with their names and wedding date.  Inside that wine box was a special bottle of Keswick Vineyards wine and love letters they wrote to each other.  During the ceremony they nailed it close and will open it again on their 5th anniversary.  What a great idea!  Thank you to Jenni, Grant and all their guests for being able to just go with the flow of Mother Nature.  The rest of the evening was beautiful!  Thank you to the following vendors:  Wedding Planner Cinda Hoege of White Birch Events, Photographer C. Tyler Corvin, Caterer Glorious Foods, DJ Dennis Payne, Musicians for ceremony Belle Arte, Hair & Make-up by Bristles Salon, Flowers by Natalie, Chandlers for the wedding cake, rentals by MS Events and buses by Agoff.

Laura & Joshua's Wedding Day

Congratulations to Laura & Joshua who were married Saturday, August 24th, at Keswick Vineyards.  By far, they had the most amazing beautiful weather for their day.  Laura's father credits it to burying that bottle of bourbon 30 days before the wedding day.  So far, all our wedding couples that have done that have scared any bad weather away so I highly recommend doing it.  I love the flower arrangements done by Blue ridge Floral Design.  The softness and elegance of the colors were breathtaking.  That, along with the beauty of Laura (Joshua looked pretty good too), you couldn't help but lose your breath at the beauty of this wedding.  Laura and Joshua chose to hang some Asian lanterns over the dance floor inside the Sperry tent.  I also love the sophistication of their wedding cake with flowers to adorn it.  Special thanks to the following vendors for providing such exceptional service to make this wedding extra special:  Caterer Harvest Moon, DJ Andy Wilfong of Party Masters, Photographer Natalie Bell, Hair Stylist Jen Skirloff, Florist Blue Ridge Floral Designs, Pastry Chef Chandlers Bakery,  Officiant and Brides Uncle Wistar Nelligan, Jr. and Skyline Tent Company.  Click here to read Natalie Bell's blog with her photos.

Jessica & John's Wedding Day

On Saturday, August 10th, Jessica & John were married at Keswick Vineyards by Officiant Brian Purcell.  Mother Nature delivered us an amazing day with beautiful blue skies and a slight breeze and cooler weather.  Jessica looked amazing, and so did John, but I thought their dog was just adorable preceding Jessica down the aisle wearing a sign saying "Here Comes The Bride".   Jessica & John knew how to make a grand entrance to their reception.  They, along with the rest of their wedding party, performed a dance that definitely set a tone for the rest of the evening.  Thanks to the following vendors for providing such wonderful service:  Caterer Glorious Foods, DJ Greg Tutwiler, Photographer Aaron Watson, Bright Frame Films, Florist Sweet Magnolias, Officiant Brian Purcell, Pastry Chef Sweethaus, Make-up and hair by Jeanne Cusick, Charlottesville Public School Buses, Event Planner Amanda Heath, Rentals by MS Events, Skyline Tent Company and Musician Kayce McGehee.  Click here to view a short video by Bright Frame Films.  Click here to see part I of Aaron Watson's photo blog.  Click here to see part II of Aaron Watson's photo blog.  Click here to see this wedding featured in Hill City Bride.

Most Out Of Town Guests Wedding

Congratulations to Amber & Andrew who were married at Keswick Vineyards on Saturday, August 3rd.  It was amazing to find out how many different states and countries that their guests traveled from to attend their wedding.  Some that I can remember were:  New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, Iowa, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Washington State, Canada, Brazil & Chili.  There were probably more that I just can't remember.  And let me say, these  guests came to party!  I've never seen a dance floor stay packed for the entire reception like I did on this evening.  Usually a lot of guests hang out near the bar and watch people dance.  Not this group.  They came to dance and have a great time.  In the middle of the reception Amber and Andrew were serenaded by a group of their friends to the theme from Beauty and the Beast but with different lyrics.  It was awesome!  One of my favorite details from this wedding was how they numbered their reception tables.  For every table number, they matched a photo of each of them at that age.  So, for table #6, there would be a picture of Amber at 6 and a picture of Andrew at age 6.  What a great idea!  Their wedding couldn't of been possible without the following vendors:  20 South Catering, Event Planner Barb Wired, DJ TD Layman of Sound Enforcement, Photographer Ashley Whitlow, Florist Verde Natural Florals, Pastry Chef Hot Cakes, Hair by Lauren Perkins, Make-up by Jessica Biehl, Musician Peter Richardson, Officiant Jessica Sellers, Rentals by MS Events and A&A Limousine for buses.
