Congratulations to Virginia & Jack who were married at Keswick Vineyards by Pastor Larry Farnen on Saturday, October 15th, 2011. Virginia & Jack met when they both attended the University of Virginia. They currently live in Richmond along with their families and wanted to come back to the Charlottesville area to be married. Virginia was such a stunning bride and Jack looked very handsome in his dark grey suit. The yellow colors in her bouquet provided by Sugar Magnolias complimented the golden colors in the vineyard. The weather was beautiful for this all outdoor ceremony/reception wedding. Virginia & Jack surprised their guest with a taco trailer during cocktail hour. Guest couldn't get enough of Boka Tako Truck. After cocktail hour the guest enjoyed the evening under the Sperry Tent that was beautifully decorated by Skyline Tent. Guest enjoyed a family style dinner catered by C&O of Charlottesville. Jean-Jacques Bakery provided the delicious wedding cakes. Virginia and Jack also had a popcorn buffet served along with some Coke in the original small glass bottles. At the end of the evening instead of doing a sparkler send off, Virginia & Jack gathered on the dance floor with their remaining guest and arm to arm sang the UVA fight song, "That Good Ole' Song". Jay Johnson of Astro Entertainment from Virginia Beach was the DJ providing music for the evening. All the fun and excitement was captured by Studio Saldana Photography from New York. On Saturday, October 8th, Shannon & Davis were married at Keswick Vineyards! Shannon was escorted down the aisle by her Mother while she had a locket attached to her bouquet with a photo of her father who had recently passed. The ceremony was beautiful and I was taken by how Davis just couldn't take his eyes off of Shannon. He just kept looking at her with that look of amazement. The two of them kept saying how it felt like they were looking at someone else's wedding. They couldn't believe that this was their wedding. Their true excitement showed all night long on their faces. The evening couldn't of happened without the help of the following vendors: Tom Daly Photography, Claire Goodman Officiant, Charlottesville Cupcake, Caterer Hank's Smokehouse, Blue Ridge Floral, T.D. Layman of Sound Enforcement as DJ, and Jessica Trembley as wedding director. Below are some photo's I took but to get a sneak peak at their professional photo's by photographer Tom Daly, click here.
On Saturday, October 1st, Amanda & Brian exchanged their wedding vows at a beautiful, outdoor ceremony at Keswick Vineyards. What a beautiful couple Amanda & Brian made. It sure makes it easy for us want-to-be photographers. The two of them really out did themselves with the decorating. The flowers for the ceremony and the centerpieces on the tables were incredible! The centerpieces were on top of these 3-4 foot high clear glass vases that just made such a striking statement. Skyline tent did an amazing job lighting the tent with wall washers and hanging oriental light balls from the ceiling. I've never seen our Sperry tent look more beautiful then I did that night. The food, the music, the cake, the bridal party, everything was incredible and I'm so happy that Amanda & Brian chose Keswick Vineyards to celebrate their special day. Congratulations to the both of you and please come back for a visit. Special thanks to all the vendors that night including Barb Wired as the event director, Hot Cakes for catering & wedding cake, Skyline Tent Company for lighting and decorations, Linden Trio for ceremony & cocktail music, T.D. Layman as the DJ, Brian Purcell the officiant, Flowers by Natalie, Tom Sanderson Photography, Starring You films as videography, make-up by Jeanne Cusick and hair by Moxie.
All of the wood knocking worked for Zac. All day I would tell him that it wasn't going to rain and he would make everyone knock on wood. I'm happy to say that Shannon & Zac had NO rain for their entire wedding day! The weather was perfect with the over cast skies. Shannon & Zac were married by Erik Bonkovsky after a 7 1/2 year relationship on September 24th, 2011 at Keswick Vineyards. Shannon was escorted down the aisle by her father while harpist Eve Watters played. Some of the most beautiful bouquets and centerpieces were done by Blue Ridge Florist. Guests enjoyed food prepared by Groovin' Gourmet out of Richmond and played yard games while photographer Don Mears and his wife Lindsay took photo's of the couple and their families. After dinner the guests danced the night away under the Sperry tent with DJ Derek Tobler. The evening was spectacular and a special thanks for the crew from Barb Wired for handling all the details to make Shannon & Zac's wedding a day they will never forget. Congratulations! On September 17th, 2011, Erin & Levi were married by Rev. Richard Fichter at Keswick Vineyards. Erin had worried for the past week regarding the cold front and rain that was heading our way. She prayed and prayed and her prayers were answered. What a beautiful day her and Levi had for their all outdoor ceremony and reception. It was like her prayers were answered when the sun peaked out from behind the clouds right when her ceremony began. Erin shared with me a story of how her and Levi had burried a bottle of bourbon, upside down, that is suppose to give you good weather on your wedding day if you do this exactly a month before your wedding day. Looks like that worked! The overcast skies made it a dream for photographer Cat Thrasher as she captured every moment of the evening. Guests enjoyed food prepared by 20 South Catering and dance the night away under the command of DJ T.D. Layman. Special thanks to Verde Natural Florals, MS Events and Barb Wired.
On August 6, 2011, Laura and Ryan were married at Keswick Vineyards located just outside of Charlottesville. The bride was given away by her father while her immediate wedding party of 26 bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and ring bearer watched on. Brooke Deszio played the keyboard for the ceremony and cocktail hour while family friend, Dr. William Teague, performed the service. Pat's Florist provided the beautiful floral arrangements and bouquets. Guest gathered for the reception under the Sperry tent while enjoying food prepared by Have Food Will Travel catering. Once dinner was completed it was time to dance the evening away to music provided by DJ Andy Wilfong. All of these moments were captured by photographer William Walker. Thank you also to Barb Wired for their event planning.
9-10-11 was one of the most popular dates to get married on this year. It was only fitting that a special couple with a unique way of meeting each other was able to have their wedding reception at Keswick Vineyards. Allison & Mark met on the Metro train by chance. Allison got on the wrong train and ended up sitting next to Mark. One stop before Mark was to get off, Allison grabbed his cell phone and punch her phone number into it. 48 hours later they had their first date and have been together ever since. It was only fitting that the theme for their wedding be the "Metro train". Centerpieces for the tables were made by Allison's father and were post with the name of a station. Of course, their sweetheart table had the station they met at; Farragut West. The bridesmaids wore a pewter color dress while the groomsmen wore yellow ties to accent their suits. Beautiful bouquets of sunflowers added to the brightness. 20 South did the catering and Barb Wired was used for event planning. Congratulations to Allison & Mark!
On September 4th, 2011, Ashley (goes by the name Cassie) and Justin celebrated with family and friends their wedding at Keswick Vineyards. Cassie and Justin are true soul mates. They have been together for over 13 years! Childhood sweethearts, they can't remember a time when they didn't have each other in each other lives. It was a beautiful ceremony taking place just in front of the vineyard. Cassie had purchased a mantel that her father refurbished to be used for the ceremony. Cassie chose such soft and neutral colors for her reception. She had lots of khaki and neutrals with soft pinks and pops of light aqua. Simply elegant! Special thanks to 20 South catering, Eric Kelley photography, Lora Kelley for make-up & hair, Jennifer Hamlin of Events with Panache, celebrant Virginia Moore, and Albemarle Baking Company. It had almost been a year since Lauren and Danny chose Keswick Vineyards to host their wedding. On September 3rd, 2011, that day finally came and what a beautiful day they had chosen for an all outdoor ceremony and reception. Lauren had chosen royal blue for her bridesmaids dresses and boy did they look spectacular against the dark black tuxedos the groomsmen wore. Wedding planner Amanda Dickinson handled all of the details that day/night to make sure Lauren & Danny had their dream wedding. DJ Tony Fernandez did such a fantastic job as DJ for the evening. He had that dance floor packed all night long! Special thanks to photographer Danielle Maverick, flowers by Scarlett Snead and cake by Teri Edwards.
All my blogs up until this point have been focused on the workings of the winery and the wines, but today I would like to make an exception and chat about a very special couple who are celebrating their one year wedding anniversary.
I first met Chris and Laura in the tasting room in January of 2010 on what was a miserable winters day. Along with my wife Kathy, who was the manager on duty that day, we quickly learned that they were looking for a wedding venue, for they were to be married in August of 2010. Out came the computer and many hours were spent showing them photographs of the property and our own wedding photos from the previous year.
This was a bit of a tough sell, for Keswick is definitely beautiful, but with leafless vines, inches of snow on the ground, and no actual wedding venue up and running yet, it would take some imagination to envision what your wedding ceremony would like. It was with some trepidation that we hopped on the golf cart and spent the next hour or so fighting our way through snow, talking about where the tent would be, where Laura would enter from, where their first dance would take place and so on.
They are a lovely couple and time spent with them was truly a pleasure. A few weeks later I had the chance to meet the folks, everyone knows you have to get the Mom to love the place, but they were just as lovely as Chris and Laura and with the help of photographs and lots of personal experience from our side, we felt confident that we could make their day truly special. Holy cow, they booked with us and we were to have our first, non-family wedding on the property!
Chris and Laura were such a wonderful couple to work with, plans kept changing as our wedding venue started to come together- artificial grass was put in, the beautiful sperry tent was put up, tables and chairs were ordered, an event planner was hired- and they just went with the flow with everything and kept us inspired and excited about this new venture we were undertaking. Thank goodness for helping hands from Barb Lundgren and Cindy Schornberg, who are way more experienced at these sort of things. With preparations and details taken care of, the big day duly arrived.
Laura looked radiant and Chris looked dashing, I even got to drive Laura around in the golf cart for her pre-wedding photographs. By all accounts the nuptials were beautiful, Chris remembered all his first dance steps and these two individuals were to start their amazing lives together. I did sneak a late night visit to the tent to wish them well and their joy together was easily seen.
We might have hundreds of weddings over the next few years, but yours will always be our first, and will always remain a special one for both me and Kathy. From all of us at Keswick Vineyards, we wish you a very happy first year anniversary. May your love continue to grow and may you continue to experience eternal happiness.
Stephen and Kathy
