2015 Heritage Estate Reserve
Beautiful garnet color. The aroma of this wine is a little less fruit forward than some of our single varietal wines. The blend shows more typical Bordeaux aromas of black tea, earthier tones and tobacco notes. It takes some aeration for the fruit to come through which means this wine may be aged for a few years to say the least. The oak is balanced since the core of the wine has a great upfront acidity, which keeps the wine focused and pure. The finish is lengthy and there is an inherent sweetness that comes from the barrels that really compliments this wine. A wine that shows more restraint and finesse than power and tannins.
Each lot was harvested and vinified separately before being blended after one year, where the blend was aged for an additional 8 months (20 months in all) in 100% third fill French Oak. All three varietals come from the 7-acre Bordeaux Block at Keswick Vineyards planted in nasom series soils which challenge the vines; growing deep roots and developing wonderfully ripe and concentrated berries.
