2016 Amélie Rosé
100% Estate Grown Virginia Norton, this rosé is the latest edition to our expanding Amélie series of sparkling wines. Dry and fruit forward, the nose on this wine expresses a fresh bouquet of raspberry with a hint of baked bread. The palate is crisp and clean with an aggressive effervescence and a long, lengthy finish.
The Norton grapes are grown in the Braddock series soil that dominates the front portion of the Estate vineyard. The fruit was pressed and juiced transferred directly into tank with it's skin. After 48 hours the juice and skins were seperated leaving the wine much darker and pinker.
The Amelie label is a tribute to the illustrious Amelie Rives who lived in the late 19th century and owned all of the land that is now Keswick Vineyards. The label depicts an edited self portrait Amelie drew using parchment and charcaol that is now kept in special collections of Alderman Library in Charlottesville.
