Estate Reserve Label

The gold ribbon Estate Reserve label is an endorsement on our part of what we believe is the best expression of a wine. Our Estate Reserves are always 100% Estate grown and handled with a minimalistic style that reflects the character of the vineyard versus the winemaker. In terms of ageing, our reserves are designed to age and improve with time, generally requiring several years for them to reach their true potential.


2017 Estate Reseerve Cabernet Franc Block 7 Tasting Notes

Block 7 is a seven-acre block at Keswick Vineyards that is comprised of the best soils on the farm. These soils are rich with granite and weather schist and shale. The best fruit from Keswick Vineyards has always come from this block, including all of our award winning Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc wines. As we expand our vineyards planting new acres and exploring new soils, we have decided to keep the fruit from this exceptional block separate. 2017 Cabernet Franc Estate Reserve "Block 7" is the first of these vineyard designated wines and has already received high honors from wine critics such as James Suckling even after only being in the bottle for two months. 
Give this wine several more years before drinking.


2017 Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Block 3 Tasting Notes

The wine is dark and inky showing good density and weight in the glass. The nose is quite expressive with initial tones of dark berries, lavender, violet and milk chocolate. With further aeration you get secondary aromas of mocha, toasted oak and smoke [derived from the oak].

As with all our wines, there is a healthy dose of acidity before the tannins and oak flavors draw the wine to the mid and back palate. The primary flavors are dominated by dark fruits [plum, blueberries and cassis]. There is a fair amount of grippy tannins but off set by the bright and fresh core of acidity which will help this wine age and improve over the next decade. This is first time we have ever had a stand alone Cabernet Sauvignon from our 3-Acre block or "Block 3". 

If possible, decant this wine for 2-3 hours prior to serving.
