"Brilliantly clear and a lot of citrus, green apple and tangerine on the nose. The aromas are quite intense and vibrant. The wine has incredible acidity, very focused and fresh. On the palate you get Granny Smith Apple, Lemon, Pear and Green Melon. The finish is medium long and there is a lovely softness to this wine on the back end.
A wine that could easily use a few years in the bottle, 3-4 years.
I love how vibrant this wine is and showcases how noble a varietal Chardonnay is. A great alternative to oaky, buttery versions which really do nothing to promote the grape." - Winemaker, Stephen Barnard
Fruit for this wine comes from Mount Juliet in Crozet, Virginia and was harvested August 26th which is earlier than usual. We decided to pick this wine a touch greener, choosing to preserve the acidity in the fruit knowing that we wanted to tank ferment it. The fruit was whole cluster pressed with only the free run and light press juice used. The juice was cold settled and racked off 2 days later. Maturation lasted 8 months with no stirring of the fine lees and no seconday fermentation.
