2017 Petit Verdot Reserve
Made in a slightly reductive style to support long term aging, this wine can be cellared under optimal conditions for 8-10 years quite easily. As the wine spends time in the bottle, or by decanting for several hours, the reductive character will blow off and darker fruit notes of blackberry, currant and dark chocolate will shine through. The palate is rich with big tannins that also support time in the cellar.
The gold ribbon Estate Reserve label is an endorsement on our part of what we believe is the best expression of a wine. Our Estate Reserves are always 100% Estate grown and handled with a minimalistic style that reflects the character of the vineyard versus the winemaker. In terms of ageing, our reserves are designed to age and improve with time, generally requiring several years for them to reach their true potential.
Harvest from two separate blocks, the harvest was very clean and little sorting was necessary. Fermentation lasted 12 days with punchdowns multiple times per day. After pressing the wine was immediately transferred to barrel where secondary fermentation occured naturally in early spring. Matured for 10 months in 50% New French Oak and 50% Neutral French Oak.
