The wine is brilliantly clear. The nose is dominated by citrus tones, predominantly meyer lemon, lime and citron. Once aerated, the more tropical fruit aromas are noticeable. The palate is quite lively and light. This vintage is really bright and easy drinking and has incredible length. The palate has more typical papaya, mango and pineapple undertones.
The Viognier for this wine was grown in the Braddock Series soils that are prominant in the front vineyards of Edgewood Estate. Only the free run and light press juice was used for this varietal wine. The juice was settled with enzymes and racked off once a certain clarity was achieved. Primary fermentation was completed in 18 days and was conducted at slightly warmer than normal temperatures. The wine was then matured for 8 months on fine lees with no stirring.
