2019 LVA Rives Red
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grapes sourced from our partner vineyard in California, La Cienega Vineyards, and made here in Virginia by Stephen Barnard. The wine remains fruit forward with a slight hint of spice. The nose has an abundance of red fruits, crushed berries and hints of smoke. The palate reflects the higher acidity and cherry notes.
Les Vents d'Anges, "the wind of angels" is a tribute to Genevieve de Beaubien, M.D., the beloved sister of Al Schornberg, owner of Keswick Vineyards. Pronounced the same as vendanges or "harvest", the wines bottled under this label are typically fruit forward and delicate, sometimes with a hint of sweetness and not meant for aging. Rives Red serves also as a tribute to the Rives family who owned the land in the 1800's and commissioned the building of Edgewood Estate, the crown jewel of Keswick Vineyards. Amelie Rives lived in Castle Hill and has another label in her honor.
